GH's Patrick Finds Out He is The Father
Once upon a time, GH's Robin dreamt of having children with Patrick. "Initially, when they were together, she wanted him to be the father of her baby and was hoping that he would want to have children with her," recaps Kimberly McCullough(Robin). "But, since he didn't, she moved on." After a romantic night when the condom failed, Robin did get pregnant, though she held off telling Patrick that he's the dad. Is this the case of be careful what you for? "Yeah, I guess you could put it that way," McCullough laughs.
After Patrick's repeated questions, Robin finally admits the truth that he did indeed father her baby. "Patrick knew the condom broke so, in the back of his mind, he always knew there was a chance," notes Jason Thompson(Patrick). "The last couple of weeks, he's gotten the hunch that it is his child, and when he gets confirmation from Robin, he's torn. Part of him wants to do the right things, but Robin's not exactly letting him, so it's not going to go smoothly."
"He's not angry," Thompson notes. "She says that the reason she didn't speak up was because she knew he'd want to do the responsible thing and she didn't want to hold that over his head. She doesn't want him to participate just out of obligation or guilt." But Thompson is optimistic that Patrick may come around. "I think as he grows into it, he'll learn to accept it and want to be a part of it. But who knows.... I've been wrong before [laughs]."
Patrick cautions Jason that there is no guarantee that he'll regain full use of his hands. Patrick's negative reaction to being the father of Robin's baby makes Robin decide to raise the child on her own.
SON:
After weeks of denials, Robin finally reveals that Patrick is indeed the father of her baby. Robin informs Patrick that she can handle her life and their baby's life on her own, and isn't surprised when Patrick can't come to terms with impending fatherhood.
Patrick is put in charge of Jason's medical case and provides him with a grim prognosis - he needs surgery. Patrick promises Jason that he will find him the best surgeons for his operation.
Robin and Patrick part on bad terms.
